A French robot selected as the standard for Robocup 2010
From 19 to 25 June, Singapore will host the Robocup 2010 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre. French robot NAO of Aldebaran Robotics is the official partner.
For this edition, the official robot is the humanoid Nao of Aldebaran Robotics of France with whom participants will compete in a football game and take part in simulated rescue and render assistance to people in danger. Nao succeeds AIBO, Sony’s robot dog.
The Robocup 2010 is not only a competition but it is also a consortium of workshops, exhibitions and conferences revolving around the theme of robotics and artificial intelligence.
Indeed, since its first edition, the Robocup has sought to foster artificial intelligence and robotics research by bringing together scientists and students from world renowned institutions. They meet on a single platform to compete. Candidates are required to showcase their creative and wide-ranging skills to win the championship.
This international event is expected to attract about 3,000 researchers and students from 40 countries. They will participate in conferences and educational programmes and projects involving R &D,.
A Science in the Café session on robotics will be organized on 25 June 2010, with speakers who will also participate in RoboCup 2010, Dr. Vincent Hugel (University of Versailles Saint Quentin en Yvelines) and A/Prof. Nicolas Jouandeau (Université Paris 8).
