"Amour "captures 5 Oscar nominations
"Amour" scored five Oscar nominations, positioning the drama as the front-runner to seize the Best Foreign Language Film, if not more of the movie industry’s most coveted prizes. Directed by Michael Haneke, it was also nominated for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, while star Emmanuelle Riva, 85, was nominated for Best Actress.
The film painstakingly details the day-to-day struggles and indignities of elderly Parisian couple Georges and Anne (played by Emmanuelle Riva) who must confront Anne’s slide toward death as her health fails.
This film, which also stars Jean-Louis Trintignant and Isabelle Huppert, is a French / Austrian / German coproduction.
You can still catch the screening of "Amour" at Cathay cinemas in Cineleisure Orchard.
