Annual political consultation sessions between France and Singapore (29 March 2011)
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Pierre Sellal, received his Singaporean counterpart, Bilahari Kausikan, on Tuesday, 29th March, for the 12th session of annual political consultations between France and Singapore.
Established by the joint declaration signed in 1999 by the French and Singaporean Presidents, these consultations present opportunities to take stock of major international issues, as well as to outline and to reinforce bilateral relations. Singapore is one of the principal partners of France in Asia, with which it maintains a sincere political dialogue and substantial relations in the economic and commercial fields as well as in the defence and security domains.
Considering its dynamism, its role in South-east Asia and its contribution to the major issues in the G20 context, the French Presidency of the G20 has invited Singapore, under its Presidency of the 3G (Global Governance Group), to participate in the Cannes Summit, which will be held the following November 3rd and 4th.
