Award ceremony to confer the rank of Chevalier of the Legion of Honor upon Mr Quek Tong Boon

The French Ambassador to Singapore, Mr Olivier Caron, was proud to acknowledge the key role that Mr Quek Tong Boon played to open Singapore’s international R&T collaboration to France. He said to Mr Quek, "In 1998, you were one of the founding fathers of SAFARI : the Singapore and France Advanced Research Initiative. Under your leadership and guidance, this relation has grown at an outstanding rate in the recent years, to a point where Singapore is currently the second bilateral partner of DGA for R&T collaboration".

Mr Quek succeeded in building multiple bridges of trust and confidence between our two defence technology communities. Mr Caron highlighted, "You wove a whole array of friendly relationships with a very wide range of French stakeholders, including DGA, ONERA, armed forces medical service, Supelec, SGDSN, CNRS and industries. These links prove to be strong and long-lasting, and enable a fair and sound sharing of experiences and knowledge between engineers of both countries for our mutual benefit".

The Ambassador additionally mentioned, "For your indefatigable commitment to the relations between the French and Singaporean defence technolgy communities, for having played such an important role in giving our bilateral relations their sound foundations, for adding to the strength of the bond between our two nations, France is proud, Mr Quek Tong Boon, to count you among the members of its Legion of Honor."
