Consular Section

The Consular Section provides administrative services and extends consular protection to the French citizens in Singapore, readily assists French persons in difficulty and issues visas to foreign citizens to Schengen countries.

The Consular Section is the point of contact between France and French citizens living abroad. It allows French expatriates to maintain their links with their home country by exercising their rights and duties as citizen through administrative services. These services include the updating of public records, the issuing of passports and proofs of identity, the drawing up of notarised deeds, the putting in order of papers for national service, the preparation of powers of attorney for voting, the organisation of elections, and adoption procedures, et cetera.

It assists French people either residing in or passing through Singapore; by drawing up a security plan in the event of a crisis, helping French tourists in difficulty, aiding French citizens in prison, and providing scholarship grants and social aid.

The department is also a source of general information for the French community residing here by keeping in close contact with associations and institutions in the country. It is furthermore responsible for issuing visas to foreigners visiting France.

From 26 June 2014, the consular jurisdiction in Singapore has been extended to include the territory of Negara Brunei Darussalam.
