Europe Climate Diplomacy Day in Singapore

Within the framework of the Europe Climate Diplomacy Day, which will take place globally on 17 June to promote the actions taken on a global scale to fight against climate change and to encourage discussion on the theme of climate change, the Embassy will organise, in partnership with the EU delegation and other European Embassies in Singapore, two events :

  • EU Climate Diplomacy Day – Youth Debate

This student debate (in English) will take place in the auditorium of the new ESSEC campus in Nepal Hill. Two teams of students will debate on the following motion :

“This house believes that all countries need to submit ambitious emissions reduction pledges (that keep us within the 2 degree C Global temperature rise) for a successful, legally binding deal in Paris COP21”

The public will be invited to comment on the debate and to pose questions to the debaters.

  • Building a low carbon economy : the role of business

The event "Building a low carbon economy" will take place at the National Library in the presence of Ambassador Kwok Fook Seng, Chief Negotiatior of the Climate Change Office for Singapore, who is the guest of honour for the evening, and Mr. Philippe Zeller, Ambassador at large for limate Negotiations for Asia and Oceania.
