Excellence Programme for conducting research in Paris Region
The French State and Ile de France Region have launched the Blaise Pascal International Research Chairs call for proposals. The call associated to this chair is open until January 10, 2011. It allows highly qualified internationally foreign research scientists in all scientific fields, to pursue their work on a scientific project for a 12 months period (that could be extended to two years) in a university or research institution in Paris/Ile-de-France.
The global financial amount allocated to each project is capped to 200 000 € which includes salaries, taxes, accompanying expenses… Nominated chairs are required to give about ten lectures (pedagogical program to be attached), to deliver an activity report at the end of their stay and to organize a public seminar.
A multi-disciplinary jury, in association with the Institute of France, will select 4 applicants for 2011 based on the project’s scientific interest for Ile-de-France Region, on its interdisciplinary nature and the quality of the application. Applications by female candidates are highly encouraged.
Applications must be received before 10 January 2011. The foreign laureate may be hosted in Ile-de-France as early as September 2011.
Applications must be made jointly and presented by the person in charge of the French host laboratory. Applications must comprise the following documents in triplicate :
• an application form (template provided)
• a financial form, with the evaluation of anticipated needs (template provided)
• an activity and research project
• a pedagogical program
• a CV and a list of recent publications
• a cover letter from the hosting laboratory
• a letter of agreement from the Director of the hosting establishment
