Famous French Pianist Richard Clayderman in concert at the Esplanade with Rahul Sharma
Richard Clayderman is one of the most succesful pianists in the world. He has recorded over 1,200 songs and has created a new romantic style through a repertoire which combines his trademark originals with classics and pop standards. He has clocked worldwide record sales of approximately 70 million and has 267 Gold and Platinum discs to his credit. His composition Ballade pour Adeline has sold an astonishing 22 million copies in 38 countries. He has a lot of success in Asia, and one of his first concerts was in Shanghai in 1987.That concert was telecast by all the asian television channels with the audience estimated to be eight hundred million. Clayderman is also famous in Japan and Taiwan. In the words of a German journalist, "he has arguably done more to popularise the piano around the world than anyone since Beethoven"
He will be playing with Rahul Sharma, the illustrious son of the legendary Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma. He has released over 20 santoor and fusion albums. Together with Richard Clayderman, he has released two albums—The Confluence: Santoor & Piano and Confluence II. He has also collaborated with legends like Kenny G and Zakir Hussain and recently released an album with Kenny G. Rahul also has released an album with Homayun Sakhi, a leading Afghan rubab player.
Both artists will be performing individually as well as in a duo performance—sheer poetry without words.
