« IPS Meeting 2013 » – Workshop sur les Nanosciences

The Institute of Physics Singapore (IPS) [1] is the leading scientific body for physics in Singapore, with elected members from local institutes; namely the National University of Singapore’s Physics Department [2], the Nanyang Technological University (NTU)’s School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) [3] and the National Institute of Education’s Faculty of Natural Sciences and Science Education [4].

The Institute hopes to raise awareness and interest in physics amongst the general public through the organisation of physics-related events, held in conjunction with other institutions in Singapore.

The IPS Meeting; a workshop on Nanosciences, will be held from 4 to 6 March 2013 at the SPMS, NTU. This year, the workshop is co-organised with the Institute of Physics of the United Kingdom (IOP) [5]. Applications are accepted until 15 February 2013 (http://www.ipsmeeting.org/).

In January 2012, the IPS Meeting was held in partnership with the Société Française de Physique (SFP) [6]. This workshop led to a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the SFP and IPS. The MOU sets out the collaborations between France and Singapore in fundamental physics, including the biennial organisation of the IPS meeting, to be held in France and Singapore every alternate year. In addition, each member institute has the option of participating in each other’s events.
