International Conference on State Secularism/Laïcité and Muslim Minority Integration

On 18 April 2016, a conference jointly organised by Université Sorbonne Paris Cité and the National University of Singapore under the NUS-USPC Alliance Research Grant 2015/16 was held at the National University of Singapore Society.

This International Conference on “State secularism/laïcité and the “integration” of Muslim-minority communities in multi-ethnic and multi-religious context: A comparative case study of Singapore and France”, gathered a team of French and Singaporean academics and researchers, including Ambassador Jean-Christophe Peaucelle, Counsellor for Religious Affairs for French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador Md Alami Musa, President of Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS).

In the evening, the documentary film ’Les 3 vies du Chevalier’ was screened at the Alliance Française de Singapour and was followed by a Q&A session with Dominique Dattola, film director, Dominique Husken-Ulbrich, teacher at Lycée français de Singapour and Ambassador Jean-Christophe Peaucelle, Counsellor for Religious Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, France.
