The Embassy promotes French Language through a policy of educative and university cooperation with Singaporean and regional partners like the Ministry of Education, the RELC/SEAMEO (Regional Language Centre of Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation), schools, institutions, universities and polytechnics. It provides support to teaching of the French language, through offering information to students and training courses to the language teachers. This takes place either in Singapore or France.
For those whose projects are relevant to the linguistic issues or French language teaching, scholarships for linguistic immersion courses or annual studies are given out.
Scholarship applications are opened till the end of March every year.
In conjunction with the Alliance Française, we organize the sessions of the DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) examinations, which are national certificates of ability in French.
The Embassy also provides an all-rounded information on how to study French, whatever the purpose may be : to enrich someone’s cultural background, to join French University or "Grande Ecole" or to master the language for professional reasons.
We are able to recommend a course or a school, according to the personal preference.
Useful information
What are DELF & DALF?
The DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) and the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are the first diplomas in "French as a Foreign Language" to gain international recognition as they are awarded and guaranteed by the French Ministry of Education. Since their introduction, these diplomas have been adopted in 114 countries. The Department for Culture, Science and Education is responsible for the administrative supervision of these diplomas in Singapore, on behalf of the French Ministry of Education.
Reflecting recent educational research, DELF and DALF are designed to evaluate the candidate’s ability to communicate in a real life situation.
