This order, created 50 years ago by General De Gaulle, is given by the French Republic for distinguished service to the nation. It is one of France’s most prestigious disinctions.

As the world’s largest international serviced residence owner-operator, Ascott is an impressive success story born in Singapore. Half of its European portfolio is now located in France. Since its first French investment with the acquisition of the Citadines network in 2002, Ascott’s footprint in France has kept expanding. Under Lee Chee Koon’s leadership, several substantial investments were decided, such as the opening of the Citadines Suites Louvre near the Palais-Royal in April 2013 and the opening of the Citadines Suites Arc de Triomphe in April 2015, following important rehabilitation work.

As a result of this 15-year relationship, Ascott has grown to become the first Singaporean investor in France, as well as the first Singaporean employer, with over 600 employees.

To better cater to a demand for accommodation growing faster than supply and build economies of scale in his operations, Lee Chee Koon chose to deepen Ascott’s presence in Paris. These are strong messages sent to the world and especially to Asian investors, the ones who will make tomorrow’s growth. This is why France is very grateful to Mr Lee, and wishes that this relationship between our country and Ascott will keep growing and flourishing.
