NAO the French humanoid robot presented in Singapore
A Science in the Café session on robotics organised was held on the sidelines of the 2010 RoboCup, at the Singapore Science Centre on 25 June.
Conducted by Drs. Vincent Hugel (Université de Versailles Saint Quentin-en-Yvelines) and Nicolas Jouandeau (Université Paris 8), the session enthralled young and old alike through an animated demonstration of robotic technology applied to research as well as everyday life.
The star of the Science Café session was without doubt Nao, the humanoid robot. Nao, the mascot of RoboCup and the brainchild of Aldebaran Robotics of France, demonstrated its football skills to the delight of all present. It is hoped that this lively display will pick the interest of the younger generation in taking up robotics as a career choice for the future.
