Opening of the 25th European Union Film Festival
The 25th edition of European Union Film Festival, presented this year by France as the partner country, opened on Wednesday 14 May at Golden Village Great World City with the film “The Connection” (“La French”). Ms. Ellen Lee, Member of Parliament and Chairperson, Singapore-Europe Parliamentary Friendship Group, H.E Michael Pulch, EU Ambassador to Singapore, H.E Benjamin Dubertret, Ambassador of France to Singapore, Mr. Kenneth Tan, Chairman, Singapore Film Society and Mr. Steve Golden, Director, Division of Industry & Community, Puttnam School of Film, Lasalle College of the Arts were present to grace this event.
The opening film, “The Connection”, directed by Cedric Jimenez, encompasses a form of gritty passion in the character of Pierre Michel (played by Oscar winner, Jean DUJARDIN for the movie “The Artist”). A relentless dedicated young French magistrate, he spends years trying to take down one of the country’s most powerful crime rings. The film was nominated for Best Production and Costume Design in the 2015 César Awards. Its theatrical appeal, action and art-house casting makes this an exciting film not to be missed, especially for fans of epic mob movies.
“The Connection” will be screened on Saturday 23rd May at 4pm and is part of VOILAH! French Festival. To book tickets and for more info, visit www.voilah.sg
