The son of parents who came from Venetia, Roger Muraro was born in Lyon in 1959. In 1972, even though he did not yet know his scales on the keyboard, the self-taught Muraro was already playing Chopin’s Polonaises. At 17, he entered the competition for admission to the Paris Conservatoire, but failed. Muraro gave his first recital in February 1980, in Lyon, performing a marathon programme. Nowadays, Roger Muraro plays his music round the world and teaches it at the Paris Conservatoire, along with Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Ravel or Bartok.
