Swing Concert “Paris-Berlin 1928” in Singapore

Swing Concert “Paris-Berlin 1928” as part of the European Cultural Season in Singapore
Wednesday, 14th of May 2008, at 8pm
Jubille Hall @ Raffles Hotel

1928, Paris and Berlin were two important cultural places, and exchanged major artistic trends. As Paris was enjoying “les Années Folles” and welcoming many Argentinian Tango Orchestras, Berlin was exploding with creativity of its numerous Dance-Orchestras. At that time, in both cities, any dance-café had its own band, and fun was a must!

Eighty years later, let our Swing Orchestra immerge you in a delightful musical evening, where famous tunes, such as “Ça c’est Paris!”, tangos, as “La Cumparsita”, Marlene Dietrich’s “Falling in love again”, “Orient-Express”….will lead you into the charm of the fascinating past.

For that very special event, the German Conductor Volker Hartung had the privilege to select an ensemble of some of the most talented musicians from Singapore and will be accompanied by the French Soprano Astrid Defauw, whose charm and voice remember of the style of Marlene Dietrich.
