"The Artist" wins 5 Oscars and more
French film "The Artist" came out the big winner of the 84th Academy Awards ceremony with five Oscars, including those for best picture (producer Thomas Langman), best director (Michel Hazanavicius), best actor (Jean Dujardin), best original score (Ludovic Bource), and best costumes (Mark Bridges).
The day before, on Saturday night, "The Artist" won four prizes at the Spirit Awards honoring independent film: best film, best director, best actor, best cinematography (Guillaume Schiffman).
On Friday night, "The Artist" won six of France’s César awards, picking up best film, best director, best actress (Bérénice Béjo), best original music, best cinematography and best art direction (Laurence Bennett).
"The Artist" has picked up more than 70 accolades around the world to become the most awarded French film in history, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"The Artist" was premiered in Singapore at the opening of the "Société Générale Private Banking, 1st Rendez-vous with the French Cinema" on 7 décember 2011. The film is available still in Cathay cinemas.
