Ubifrance Singapore and the Musketeers of Armagnac : “One for All and All united to promote the King of liquors in the City – state !”
From the 15th to the 17th of October, 3 producers of Armagnac presented their traditional products to Singaporean buyers and operators, as part of a dedicated program organized by UBIFRANCE Singapore, the Trade Commission of the French Embassy.
In the frame of targeted BtoB meetings, a dozen buyers and distributors discussed the local market structure (dominated by Whiskies and Cognac eaux-de-vie) with the French producers and exchanged on future collaboration and business opportunities.
The program also included a tasting session in the French Embassy and two promotional events. A networking cocktail was held at the French Residence with the major Singaporean players of the local luxury market on Thursday 16th October. But the main event was the reception organized by The Company of Mousquetaires d’Armagnac (the Armagnac Musketeers) at the British Club on Friday 17 October. The dinner was followed by a presentation of 5 producers (including the 3 new to the market) and a special tasting of some of Armagnac best vintages.
Armagnac is the oldest wine based eau-de-vie produced in the heart of Gascony, South West France. Compared with Cognac eau-de-vie, Armagnac is produced by a single distillation of white wine in a particular alambic (still) and then left to age for many years in oak barrels. lt is available in vintages, or also in several different blends.
The Armagnac vintage 1965 will be introduced on the Singaporean market in 2015 as Singapore will then celebrate its 50th anniversary.
