Week of the Francophonie in Singapore
The Alliance Française, the Embassies and clubs francophones celebrate the Francophonie during the month of March :
The launch of the contest "Dis-moi dix mots aui nous relient" on 19 February until 19 March, before the week of the Francophonie, which all Singaporeans students can participate. information : www.alliancefrancaise.org.sg
For the whole month of March, the Médiathèque of the Alliance Française pay tribute to Serge Gainsbourg and will present his works and the DVDs on the different regions of the Francophonie.
Saturday 12 March : Alain Grousset, author of "La guerre des livres" will conduct a workshop on science fiction with the children of the Franco Kids group.
Tuesday 15 to Thursday 31 March : The Alliance Française will display the best works of its students.
Tuesday 22 March : French film "Welcome to the land of Sticks" (PG) at 8pm
Wednesday 23 March : Opening of the exhibition of Emilie Saint Pé "Comme chien et chat" which looks at bringing Chinese characters closer to French expressions. Two workshops with students will be conducted on 24 and 26 March.
Thursday 24 March - Francophone Film Festival 2011 - "Home" (M18) from Switzerland at 8pm
Friday 25 March - Francophone Film Festival 2011 - "La Grande Séduction" (M18) from Canada at 8pm
Samedi 26 March - Discover Francophone Countries.Various stands will exhibit the rich Francophone cultures of Canada, Switzerland, Belgium, Morocco, Mauritius, Senegal, the Ivory Coast, Vietnam and Pondicherry. A quiz will be organised and participants are required to source for the answers from the stands of the various countries present on this day.
2.30pm - Quizzes will be organised for schools.
6pm - Runme Shaw Cup Challenge Prize Giving Ceremony - The annual French Alumni French Language Awards will take place to reward outstanding students who are learning French at other educational institutions in Singapore. The winner of the "Allons en France" competition, organised by Institut Français, will also be announced during the ceremony.
7pm - Discover the gastronomic delights of Francophone countries in a buffet spread offered by the Alliance.
